| I took a different route from Ash Meadows to my brother and his wife's house in Henderson, Nevada so I could explore Red Rock Canyon. |

| Red Rock Canyon is northwest of Las Vegas. It's a wilderness area about 195,000 acres in size! |

| There is a scenic 13 mile one-way road through Red Rock Canyon. People also enjoy hiking, camping, biking, rock climbing and horseback riding in the canyon. |

| The sandstone rocks in the canyon were sand dunes more than 180 - 190 million years ago! The red color comes from iron in the rocks. |

| Before arriving at Ash Meadows, I didn't think there were many natural areas in the vicinity of Las Vegas, but now I know there are more places than I can visit in my three months here! |
